Challenge: Optimize treatment of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS)

ARDS requires you to look beyond mechanical ventilation to hemodynamics because an injured lung has an increased lung permeability. Challenge: Prevent ventilator-induced lung injury (VILI) during assisted ventilation
